A simple thing like turning off your lights tonight can help migrating birds.

BIRD ALERT! Another high migration night for eastern Nebraska and Iowa! 🐦✨Help reduce bird collisions and light pollution, by turn off nonessential lighting or switching to motion sensors, draw shades at night, angle exterior lights away from windows, and shield or cover outdoor lights to direct light downward and out of the night sky. Small changes can make a big difference for our migrating feathered friends!

Utility work begins on the new school. Make sure to account for additional time.

Beginning Tuesday morning, May 19, the intersection at Penrose Street and 10th Avenue will close for utility work related to the Grinnell-Newburg Community Schools Elementary School project. The closure is expected to last up to 3 weeks.

Access to areas north of 10th Avenue, including the Grinnell Community Early Learning Center and Ahrens Park, will remain available from the north via 16th Avenue. During construction, the south driveway will be closed and all traffic should use the north driveway, which will be converted to allow for two-way access.

Please follow posted signage and allow extra travel time while work is underway. We appreciate the community’s patience as this important infrastructure work is completed.
