The Grizzly Flats Fire Safe Council had a very successful Firewise Day yesterday!

It was wonderful seeing all of you at the event! They provided a lot of wildland fire safety information to everyone and gave out free green waste bags and leaf-and-lawn chutes. The US Forest Service, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, Resource Conservation District and CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit also had a lot of great information for our attendees.

Burger Nights provided a meal that was out-of-this world and John & Maria Taylor shared their wonderful property to give everyone just the right setting for the event.

Roy Rodgers and John/Maria Taylor were very deserving recipients of the annual Grizzly Flats Fire Safe Council's Community Service award

Thanks again to everyone and we'll see you next summer!

It starts at 3pm (with Burger Night food service starting at 5:30pm). As a thank you to the community, the Grizzly Flats Fire Safe Council will be contributing $6 to the portion of your beef brisket and ribs complete meal bringing the cost to a low $14!

They will also be giving away FREE compostable green waste bags AND will be conducting a silent auction fundraiser with many unique and valuable items.

See you there!

Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) will be removing two burnt hazard oak trees on their property on String Canyon Road, just west of Eagle Hill Road, this coming Tuesday (11/25) between 10am and 12pm.

The work requires that the road is shut down during the tree falling and subsequent cleanup. El Dorado Department of Transportation will be present for traffic control.

Please expect delays. As an alternative route, you can take Evergreen Drive to Grizzly Flat Road for westbound and the reverse for eastbound.

We are posting this on behalf of SPI.

The Grizzly Flats Fire Safe Council is happy to announce that the second annual holiday tree decorating has started! The holiday tree is located at the Grizzly Flats Post Office (it's located between the community bulletin board and the Post Office building).

We want this tree to be a symbol of the community's bond and resilience. We've installed solar lights on the tree along with a few fire safety related ornaments.

The tree may be accessed off the concrete curb at the post office loading dock (please do not try and step over the green plastic construction fencing).

We're inviting all households in Grizzly Flats to place ONE ornament on the tree (one per family, please). We strongly recommend writing your name in permanent marker somewhere on the ornament.

**Please remove your ornament no later than January 17, 2026.** For those who were not able to remove your ornaments in time this past January, don't worry, we carefully stored them and they're back up on the tree.

Happy Holidays from the Grizzly Flats Fire Safe Council!
