Join us on Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:30am as we gather in remembrance, reflection, and unity for the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

As our nation also marks its 250th anniversary, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the courage of those who responded, and reflect on the resilience and unity that carried our country through one of its darkest days.

The Service of Remembrance will include personal reflections from Grosse Pointe Farms Mayor John Gillooly and remarks from Fr. Andrew Van Culin of Christ Church Grosse Pointe, along with moments of silence honoring all those whose lives were forever changed by September 11. Musical performances will be provided by Kisma Jordan and Gary Johnson, JC Whitelaw, and Niko Eklund.

This Veterans Day, gather with fellow veterans, service members, and community members for a morning of remembrance, camaraderie, and reflection.

Registration is now open for The War Memorial’s annual Veterans Day Breakfast, featuring Medal of Honor recipient and Vietnam War veteran Terry Richardson as this year’s keynote speaker.

One of just 65 living recipients of our nation’s highest military honor for valor in action, Richardson will share his firsthand experiences and reflections on service, courage, and sacrifice.

The morning will also include a service song medley, gourmet breakfast, and time to connect with fellow veterans and service members.

Veterans attend free. Guests are $20. To help us welcome as many veterans as possible, we ask that each veteran bring no more than one guest.

Your strength starts at the core.

Pelvic Pilates begins Sept. 2, with a focus on building deep core stability, improving pelvic floor coordination, and supporting better alignment, balance, and everyday movement.

Through guided movement, intentional breathwork, and targeted exercises, you’ll learn how to engage your core more effectively to support your spine, improve posture, and move with greater strength and confidence.

Write. Create. Reflect. Connect.

We’re just over one month away from the launch of a new creative wellness experience designed specifically for veterans.

Over six weeks, participants will explore memoir, poetry, fiction, and visual design while connecting with fellow veterans in a supportive, creative environment.

University Liggett School educators Kelsey Ronan and Elizabeth Wagenschutz will lead the writing workshops, while Marine Corps veteran Darren Lapsley, a multidisciplinary artist and certified Art Life Coach, will guide the visual design component.

The program culminates in a professionally produced literary journal featuring participants’ original work.
