πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ September 11, 2001 – Never Forget πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today we pause to honor and remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

We also remember the families forever changed, the survivors, and the countless first responders who continue to battle the long-term health effects from that tragic day.

Town of Groton Police Announce Road Closures for their 2025 July 4th Parade

The Town of Groton will be holding their Annual July 4th Parade on Friday, July 4th, 2025. To ensure the safety and security of parade participants and spectators, the Town of Groton Police Department announces a Traffic Alert and Road Closures occurring Friday, July 4th, 2025 between approximately 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the area of Fort Hill Road, (Poquonnock Bridge area of Route 1), Poquonnock Road, and Long Hill Road.

The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. from the Fort Hill Road and Ring Drive sections of Route 1, and proceeds west on Fort Hill Road (Route 1) to the Groton Shopping Plaza off Long Hill Road at Drozdyk Drive.

Participating vehicles and floats will stage at Poquonnock Plains Park prior to the start of the parade. Poquonnock Bridge residents can expect traffic congestion on and around Central Avenue, Vergennes Court, Newtown Road (Rt 117), and Depot Road. We encourage residents to be aware of this situation and plan accordingly.

Also, as a reminder, consumption of alcohol of any kind in public areas is not allowed. We hope that you will support us as we work together to provide an alcohol-free event along the parade route.

The Town of Groton Police Department wishes everyone a safe and happy 4th of July Holiday!

Today, our members had the pleasure of being invited to the Little Learners Preschool for a special lunch with first responders! We enjoyed some delicious pizza and even got to spend recess with the kids. It was a great afternoon connecting with the community. A big thanks to Little Learners for having us, and shoutout to our friends from Groton Town Police and Groton Ambulance for joining in the fun!
