⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE: EMAIL SAFETY REMINDER ⚠️
You may have received an email appearing to come from me as the Mayor of the Town of Groton. The email is spam and should be deleted. Please do not respond, click on any links, or open any attachments.
This is an important reminder to always check the sender information when receiving emails, even when a message appears to come from someone you know or trust.
🔒 Here are a few ways to protect yourself:
* Check the sender’s email address. Do not rely solely on the name displayed. Click or tap the sender’s name to view the full email address and look for unusual spellings, extra characters, or unfamiliar domains.
* Be cautious of unexpected messages. Be suspicious of emails asking for personal information, financial details, passwords, or urgent action.
* Do not click suspicious links or attachments. If something seems unusual, do not open it.
* Verify before responding. If an email appears to come from someone you know but seems suspicious, contact that person through a known, trusted phone number or email address to confirm it is legitimate.
* Report and delete suspicious emails. Use your email provider’s reporting tools when available, and delete messages you cannot verify.
Please help keep yourself and our community safe by remaining vigilant.
Scammers can make emails look legitimate, so taking a moment to verify the sender can help protect your personal information and prevent fraud.
Thank you for your attention and for helping spread awareness.
