We are saddened by the passing of Gary Leasure, a respected community leader whose commitment to Grove City touched countless lives. A 2021 Service Above Self Award recipient, Gary's legacy of leadership and service will continue to inspire our community for years to come. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family and friends.

Honoring a Legacy of Leadership and Service: 🔵🟢

On Thursday, August 27th, our South Western City Schools community lost a key figure in its storied educational history following the passing of former board of education member and three-time, board president Mr. Gary Leasure.

Through his leadership on the board and across many forums, Leasure was a fierce advocate for public education and for all students across the district.

Whether it was as a board member or through support for initiatives such as the Success Beyond the Classroom Foundation, he was deeply committed to making sure every student, student-athlete, or musician had the resources they needed to compete and perform.

Leasure was also instrumental in several successful school levy campaigns through the years, advocating for funding and resources to build the modern facilities our students enjoy each day.

A community staple and an advocate for public education, SWCS extends its condolences to his wife Lisa, the Leasure family, and all those who knew and loved him.

We join the Grove City Division of Police in remembering former Chief Ronald "Ron" Gabriel and honoring his decades of dedicated service to our community.

Our heartfelt condolences are with the Gabriel family, his friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

[UPDATE: 8/31/26 @1:26 p.m.] Franklin County Public Health will be conducting mosquito spraying in Grove City south and west Tuesday, September 1 beginning at 9 p.m., weather permitting.

▪️For your safety, please do not approach or interfere with spray trucks or drivers.
▪️Protect yourself from mosquitoes by wearing long sleeves and pants in light colors, using insect repellent with EPA-registered ingredients and removing any sources of standing water around your home.

With the recent wet weather, we've received an increase in reports of mosquito activity throughout Grove City. If mosquitoes are becoming a problem in your area, please help Franklin County Public Health identify hotspots by submitting a Request for Service at the link below. Reports help their team investigate mosquito concerns and determine where additional action may be needed.
