🫙 Curious about making your own kombucha at home?
Kombucha is a fermented tea drink with a tangy, slightly sweet flavor and natural fizz. It’s made by fermenting sweetened tea with a SCOBY—a culture of bacteria and yeast—and it can be flavored in all kinds of fun ways. 🍋🍓🌿
Why do people enjoy it? Depending on how it’s made, kombucha may contain live cultures, organic acids, and antioxidants from the tea itself. Many people choose it as a flavorful alternative to soft drinks, and some enjoy it as part of a diet that includes fermented foods. While it’s not a cure-all, it can be a fun way to learn more about fermentation and making foods and drinks at home.
The Clarke County Extension Office is hosting a FREE Introduction to Kombucha Crafting at Home workshop on September 17 from 4:30–5:30 PM in Grove Hill! The one-hour workshop will include a kombucha-making demonstration, a tested recipe, and taste testing. Registration is limited!
