Intake numbers are nonstop here at CCAS!! Litters of dumped pups continue coming in along with strays and the amount of people wanting or needing to surrender their pets for various reasons is at an all time high as well. It's also kitten season with litter after litter of kittens coming in along with single kittens falling out of vehicles and being found roadside. The cycle of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens is never ending and this time of year always hits us hard!! Space here at the shelter is non existent. Free litters of pups and kittens are posted all over Facebook at this time. Feral/stray cats and kittens are also a huge issue with kitten season upon us!
We started euthanizing dogs Friday for space and will continue each day this week to get our numbers down. With only one scheduled dog transport a month, and intakes coming in daily, we can't seem to get ahead. We are also down a couple of employees and needing to hire, which has put us in a huge bind here at the shelter as well.
If you are looking to adopt a dog, please message us, click the link and fill out an application. We are consistently reaching out to rescues for help with our dogs and pups, but most rescues are full and completely overwhelmed at this time.
Unfortunately, it's the dogs that will pay the price because people have chosen not to be responsible and spay and neuter their pets.
If you have a pet or maybe you're trying to help out with a stray cat/kitten issue, please reach out to our nonprofit All 4 Paws and get your pet scheduled through SNYP (low cost spay and neuter program)
Our hearts will be broken this week as we make these tough decisions, but these unwanted dogs know love each and every day while here with us at CCAS.
