This week, we had the pleasure of watching the Tar Creek Apprenticeship students graduate from the program.

We are so proud of every student that participated this year, and we are inspired by what you've accomplished in such a short time.

To the eight Seneca-Cayuga students that participated this year, we thank you for the terrific example you set for the future generations of our nation, and we cannot wait to see what you accomplish next.

Carry this experience with you and never forget that you have the ability to change this world for the better. Nya:wëh.

If you attended General Council in June of 2025, you might remember the seed paper that the environmental department distributed to tribal members before the meeting began.

We handed out many seeds embedded in recycled biodegradable paper such as wildflowers, peppers, and tomatoes. As it was our first year making something like this, we handed them out and hoped for the best, never hearing a word about it in the following year.

That was, until we received a message this past Saturday from a tribal member who planted her tomato seed paper in her garden.

Thank you so much, Meichelle Culhane for reaching out with your success story! We are so happy to see that the seed paper was able to help you in your cultivation journey!

"Last year I got a piece of paper with a SC tomato seed on it... You said, 'just plant it'. I did and maybe for the first time in my lifetime I will have something I grew for Ceremonies at Green corn! TYVM. This is the tomato plant today. 6.27.2026" -Meichelle

Swimming Advisory Notice

A swimming advisory is currently in effect for the northern areas of Grand Lake due to elevated E. coli levels. This is an advisory, not a restriction. Swimming and other water activities are not restricted, but we encourage residents and visitors to use caution and make informed decisions before entering the water.

If you choose to swim, avoid swallowing water, avoid swimming with open cuts or when ill, and shower after water contact. This advisory is intended to provide important public health information while additional monitoring continues.

Please see the advisory below for more information. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.
