ndustry first perfume and lumber then citrus and tourism. Our continued success is in large part due to our perfect location. Groveland is located in sunny Central Florida at the crossroads of State Road 50, State Road 19, and State Road 33, located only a few minutes from the Florida Turnpike. Groveland is conveniently located only 9 miles from South Lake Hospital, the National Training Center, and the Special Olympics Florida year round training facility.Lake-Sumter Community College is only 11 short miles away offering University of Central Florida and Saint Leo University extended campuses. We have a current population of over 21,000 and are projected to steadily grow well into the next decade. Our community has grown rapidly over the last few years with many of the new residents coming from the Metro Orlando area. These new citizens move here to provide their families with a more secure and sedate way of life.Groveland prides itself on being a city where children can safely ride their bikes throughout the neighborhood without causing their parents constant worry, a place where your neighbor shares more with you than just a space on a street block. We may be a developing community, but Groveland still maintains that old southern small town appeal.

💧 WATER MATTERS: Is My Water Meter to Blame for the Increase?

Yes, but not in the way you might think.

Over the past several years, thousands of water meters in Groveland homes have been under-reporting water use or not reporting it at all. That means some customers have been paying less than they actually used.

Last year, the City began replacing these meters. New meters are now accurately measuring water usage, which may result in higher bills for some customers.

The City has not charged customers for past underreported usage. Moving forward, customers will be billed based on their actual water use.

Utility rate changes take effect October 1.

💧 WATER MATTERS: Why does the City have to do this now?

Many of the improvements our water system needs have been discussed for more than 20 years, but they were never fully addressed or funded. Today, the need is urgent.

We’re seeing more water main breaks, aging pipes and equipment, water discoloration, and treatment plants reaching or nearing capacity. Waiting longer could mean more frequent disruptions and increase the risk of a major system failure that could take water service offline for weeks, not days.

The Oct. 1 rate increase will help fund the improvements needed to keep Groveland’s water system reliable for today and for the future.

💧 Groveland is Moving Forward on Water Pressure Improvements

The City is advancing two major projects to improve reclaimed water pressure and increase supply in the northern service area, where the city experiences heightened irrigation demand.

With a new reclaimed water well nearing completion and upgrades underway at the Sunshine Reclaimed Water Facility, these investments will help strengthen service as Groveland continues to grow.
