BINGO!

What a GREAT night of bingo! The GBPD Silver Shield program officially kicked off with a free community bingo night filled with fun, prizes, and, most importantly, valuable information to help protect our community against scams!

The GBPd Silver Shield program was created to help our community members recognize and avoid scams before personal information or money falls into the wrong hands. The Silver Shield program is built around three simple but powerful words: PAUSE. VERIFY. SHIELD.

Between bingo rounds, our guest’s learned about common scams, including a brief presentation from Jason Francia of Jason Francia Real Estate on real estate scams. Because protecting yourself starts with knowing what to look for!

And of course, a HUGE thank-you goes out to everyone who helped make this night such a success!
Red Bee Coffee for keeping the coffee flowing!
Jason Francia | Central Coast CA REALTOR for generously donating prizes and desserts, and sharing his knowledge about real estate scams.
West Coast Community Bank for donating notepads and magnets to help spread the Silver Shield message.
Our amazing Silver Shield Committee volunteers for their time, hard work, and dedication to making this event happen.

We had a blast, and this is just the beginning! Stay tuned for more Silver Shield events as we continue working together to keep our community informed, empowered, and one step ahead of scammers.

Remember: PAUSE. VERIFY. SHIELD.

📉 Five Years. Less Crime. A Safer Grover Beach.💙💛

The numbers tell a great story! Over the past five years, Grover Beach has seen significant decreases in reported crime:

🔹 Group A offenses (crimes against persons/property/society) down nearly 50% since 2021
🔹 Property crimes down 78% since 2021
🔹 Calls for service have declined, giving our officers more opportunities to focus on proactive policing and community engagement.

These results reflect the dedication of our officers, the support of our community, and the importance of working together to keep Grover Beach a great place to live, work, and play. 💙

We’re proud of the progress—and we’re not slowing down! Thank you, Grover Beach, for being part of the team. 👮‍♂️🤝

On October 10th, the Grover Beach Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at an undisclosed location.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Sergeant Felix Rameriz said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

Grover Beach Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational ma*****na are legal, driving under the influence of ma*****na is illegal.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Empty Bowls was AWESOME!

Yesterday, Chief Munro and many volunteers helped fill “Empty Bowls” with hot soups from all over south county. For just $25, attendees, including some from GBPD, got to pick out a custom made bowl and fill it with their favorite soup. All proceeds benefited the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition. If you couldn’t make it this year, we look forward to seeing you next year!
