Wanted to update our citizens on the IRS issue.

On 9/2/26 Mayor Miller had a phone conference with the IRS.

The abatement request is still pending. Mayor Miller submitted this on 6/29/26 after we were appointed a new agent. This request is asking the IRS to forgive the penalties they gave our town after we followed all their instructions to correct this issue. The mayor was told that this could take months due to the backlog the IRS has.

In order to lock in the amount and our town not to receive any more penalties a payment plan was agreed on.

Mayor Miller signed the agreement on 9/3/26 and submitted the paperwork. The payment plan for the town is $597.00 monthly for 106 months. During or after this time if we are approved for the abatement request the IRS will reimburse the town for the penalties that we paid.

We are thankful to have finally reached this point, it has been an ongoing battle since 2023.

Due to Harvest we will reschedule our fall cleanup until November 2 and 3.

I know this is short notice and some have already put items out… we will do our best to pick those items up when not in the fields.

The town is without power. We have 6 poles down on Hwy 18 west of Grubbs before you get to Parsley’s. I have been in contact with emergency management, sheriffs office was notified, and Entergy.

Paul Williams recently passed. He was a beloved citizen in our town and will be missed. Many that grew up with him and those of us that loved him called him Red.

I have had several ask me about his service and food.

His viewing will be at Dillinger’s on August 20 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral will be held Friday at 2:00.

The family will gather at the Community Center after the gravesite on Friday.

The Community Center will be open at 11:00 on Friday for those that would like to drop food off for the family.

Please keep Ann, Ruth, and his family in your prayers.❤️🙏❤️

We will make a donation to the Sitzer Family. They live in Grubbs and Bailey recently had to have surgery. The family has a long road ahead and we are sending lots of love and prayers to them.
Recent donation of $200.00 went to their water bill to help them in this difficult time.

Today our town had two visitors from
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Division.

They came to present us with two awards. I asked Jimbo Fields to join us to help me share our story and the battle we faced during the 24 and 25 floods. We will continue to battle flooding in the future, until we find the solution and take the action needed.

First award was to The Town of Grubbs… as Community of The Year. This was for our commitment at the local level during the 2025 flood we battled together.

Second award was to Mayor Miller for her commitment on the local level to battle the 2025 flood.

Both awards are for everyone that came together and helped to keep our community and neighbors safe from the flood.

We are honored to have received these awards and look forward to working with Mike and Tori in the future.

I hope to apply for grants to improve drainage that will help us in the future.

The water system was shut down for a short time in order to fix a water leak. Hope to have it on soon! We apologize for the inconvenience.

We had a large turnout for Bingo, we had 40 in attendance. Appreciate all that was able to come and participate in the activities and help make the day a success.

I also want to thank Dion Sutherland for his donation, with his help we raised a total of $1,000.00 for Buddy Teague’s cremation.

I did meet with three of his relatives this morning and gave the donation to them, which covered the cost.

It is a blessing to see our little town come together and lend a helping hand when needed.
