Without a mailbox, flood victims can't receive medication, medical supplies, FEMA correspondence, insurance info and checks, pet meds, care packages from loved ones or any other type of mail. Mailboxes help rebuild homes, communities and people's dignity after devastation.

Yesterday, Mailbox Angels delivered more than 55 mailboxes to the Grundy Volunteer Fire Department to help those impacted by the recent flooding in Buchanan County, Virginia.

The devastation of this flood event swept through Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee and there is great need in small communities and towns in these states. Other areas have reached out to see if Mailbox Angels can supply their towns and communities with mailboxes. My heart says "Yes! Do it!" But, I need your help to continue the mission of supplying mailboxes to communities impacted by catastrophic events.

I have re-opened my gofundme page I used for relief efforts for Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. The link is at the beginning of the page and below:

Please give. One of the first things people need in times of natural disaster is a mailbox. Without a mailbox, people cannot receive their FEMA and insurance correspondence, medication, prescription eyeglasses, and medical supplies such as CPAP tubing. They can't receive pet medication, care packages from loved ones or checks to help them get their lives restarted.

A donation of $25 will replace a mailbox. Every dollar counts and when we partner locally, merchants often help by giving a bulk discount so your donation is stretched even more to help those in need.

Jeff and I are loading up mailboxes and heading to Grundy, VA today.. The Grundy Volunteer Fire Department is going to be the distribution point for mailboxes for both Hurley and Grundy. Please share! I will post again as soon as we get to Grundy. Folks can start coming by the Fire Department today.

Our neighboring states are going to need help. Mailbox Angels has a small supply of mailboxes ready to go. On Sunday, Jeff and I are going to Hurley, VA with mailboxes. I am in contact with a couple of folks in other areas of West Virginia and Kentucky. Once I can ascertain areas of need, I will be posting for donations. Pray for the people in these states. If you are a mail carrier and know of needs, please reach out. God bless the rescuers and relief workers saving lives and finding shelter and food for displaced families.

There is power in the voice and actions of youth and they CAN change the world one community at a time. I was so honored to have the opportunity to visit Baton Elementary School's Ruritan Club and speak to the student members about Mailbox Angels and our mission. After the assembly, the students gathered around my mail car for a few photos and then with the help of two Junior Ruritan members we all packed the mailboxes in the car. The children were so excited to tell me how they helped their Mailbox Madness Drive be a success. They gave me number sets, Christmas cards and letters to go along with the 49 mailboxes they collected. It was a big day for them and an even bigger day for me. I am so proud of them for giving from the heart to help our neighbors impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Today was Giving Tuesday and I was able to spend a small portion of my day with children of Baton Elementary School's Rotary Club program. These children have truly given from the heart by giving mailboxes to Mailbox Angels. I can't wait to share photos and the story with you but I have to wait until the photos have been properly vetted by school staff for photo permission. For now, I will share the school sign with you. That in itself touched my heart.
