Today begins the Wildland Firefighter Week of Remembrance, on the 12th anniversary of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who tragically lost their lives in Yarnell, AZ. We pay tribute to the memory of the firefighters who have lost their lives throughout the years. Their bravery, commitment, and sacrifice will always be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones who feel the pain of their loss the most.
As I write this, heartbreaking news is coming in from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Firefighters responding to a wildfire were ambushed, resulting in the loss of two firefighters and an unknown number of others who may be injured or lost. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the fallen, to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, and healthcare workers still working this tragedy, and the Northern Idaho community as a whole.
