On 5/13/26 at approximately 6:15p GWPD was called to the 400 block of W Burlington on the report of power lines down. Guernsey Public Works responded and resolved the issue

On 5/12/26 at approximately 1:30p GWPD responded to the 100 block of S Colorado on the report of Harassment. Prosecution was declined at this time

On 05/11/26 at approximately 11:15 am GWPD responded to camp guernsey reference a vehicle accident.

A military vehicle struck and knocked down a power line. Power was shut down to a small section of the base until the power lines were rendered safe

On 05/10/26 at approximately 5:30pm GWPD responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of S Wyoming. There was damage to property however prosecution was declined

On 05/06/26 GWPD took a report of a gas theft in the 100 block of S Kansas. Between May 1st and May 6th gas was taken from a vehicle by cutting a gas line

On 05/08/29 at approximately 12:10 am GWPD responded to the 200 block of W Whalen on the report of a disturbance. A trespass notice was served

On 5/4/26 in the afternoon, GWPD responded to Dollar General for a report of shoplifting. Officers were able to identify and contact the suspect involved. A summons was issued, and the investigation has been completed.

GWPD Reminder:

The Guernsey Police Department has recently received an increase in reports involving scams and fraudulent activity. We would like to remind residents to use caution when providing personal information, sending money, or responding to unexpected phone calls, emails, text messages, or social media messages.

Common scams include:• Individuals claiming to be law enforcement, government agencies, or utility companies demanding immediate payment.• Requests for payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, or payment apps.• Messages claiming a family member is in trouble and needs money immediately.• Fake online sales, rental listings, or social media marketplace scams.• Phone calls or emails asking for banking information, passwords, or Social Security numbers.

Please remember:• Law enforcement agencies will not demand payment over the phone.• Do not give personal or financial information to unknown callers.• Verify suspicious claims by contacting the business or agency directly using a trusted phone number.• If something feels suspicious or too good to be true, it probably is.

If you believe you may have been targeted by a scam, please contact GWPD to report the incident. Sharing information helps us warn others and investigate ongoing scams.
