🚨Scam Alert🚨
The Guin Police Department wants to warn residents about a current phishing scam targeting Apple users.
If you receive a text message similar to this one, **do not call the number** and do not reply. It is a scam designed to steal your personal information.
📱Example of the scam text:
"Hi there, we wanted to check in with you about your Apple account. There's a $394.81 charge scheduled for the next 24 hours that we're not fully able to confirm on our end.
It looks like it was initiated from Orlando, Florida...
If something doesn't look right, please give us a call: (888) 654-3880
— Apple Security Team"
✅What to do:✅
- Ignore the message
- Do not call the number
- Do not click any links (if there are any)
- If you're unsure, come by the Police Department and we’ll be happy to help.
Real companies like Apple will never ask you to call a number from a text message to “verify” a charge.
Stay safe and share this with family and friends.
