On May 29, 2026 at 10:45AM, the Gulf Breeze Police Department responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on the Chappie James Bridge Northbound. Upon arrival on scene, Police Officers located one heavily damaged black Kawasaki motorcycle in the right emergency lane closest to the walking path. The operator of the motorcycle was located on the walking path and was severely injured.
Witnesses on scene had also stopped to render aid and a torniquet had been applied to stop the bleeding. The operator of the motorcycle was determined to be David Walter Anderson (65YOA) from Gulf Breeze, FL. He was trauma alerted to Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola FL. His current condition is unknown at this time.
Witnesses to the crash reported that the motorcycle rapidly accelerated when entering onto the bridge Northbound and began traveling at a high rate of speed. The witnesses advised that the motorcycle was traveling between the two emergency lanes, weaving in and out of traffic, before the crash occurred.
The right lane and emergency lane of the bridge was closed for approximately two hours while police investigated the crash. This is a single vehicle crash and no other vehicles were determined to be involved.
This investigation is currently ongoing.
