In Loving Memory of Robert William “Bob” Mack
Robert William “Bob” Mack, 77, passed away peacefully at home in Gilbert, Arizona, on February 3, 2026.
Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Wildwood, Illinois. He graduated from Warren Township High School in 1966. In 1968, Bob proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and was deployed to Vietnam later that year. His military service was one of his greatest sources of pride, especially receiving the Purple Heart. He returned home in 1970 with strength, resilience, and a deep appreciation for life and family.
Soon after returning from Vietnam, Bob went on his first date with the love of his life, Roberta (née Stone). They were married on July 28, 1973, at St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake, Illinois. Together, they built a beautiful life over 52 years of marriage—first in Round Lake Beach, Illinois, where they welcomed their two children, and later in Arizona after relocating in 1979.
Bob was a devoted husband and father, but his greatest joy in life was being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Roberta; his daughter, Jennifer Mack-Moreno; his son, Michael Mack Sr.; grandchildren Jonathan and Megan Moreno; Michael Jr. (Joan), Noah (Hallie), Lincoln, Andrew, Drake, Ayden, and Bryce Mack; and great-granddaughter Eleanor Mack. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, James (Susan) and John (Marga) Manarik; his stepsister, Joanne (Shaddrack) Manarik; and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bob is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Michael and Gertrude Mack; his stepmother, Betty Mack; his brother, Ronald Mack; his stepbrother, Gerry Manarik; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Bob was known for his fun-loving spirit and quick sense of humor. He loved bowling, camping, fishing, and riding his quad and his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Bob showcased his musical talents as a member of the Scarlet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and the Royal Airs Drum and Bugle Corps, where he played both the drums and the bugle. His time in the corps instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, teamwork, and pride that stayed with him throughout his life. He had a passion for country music and, as a young adult, proudly played the drums in his band, “The Country Rock.” Bob was also a proud Ford truck enthusiast and could always appreciate a powerful new truck. Sundays were often spent cheering on his favorite team, the Arizona Cardinals. He had a special place in his heart for his pets, loving many dogs and cats throughout his life.
Before retiring from Hanson Aggregates, Bob worked as a cement truck driver, dispatcher, and aggregate sales manager. He took pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his career.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Funeral Home, 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalene Church, 2654 E. Williams Field Rd., Gilbert, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the laughter of his family, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
