We are proud to announce that NCHB13 was one of the recipients of the Fiscal Year 2025 Silver Expeditionary Warfare (EXW) Excellence Pennant.

Attainment of the Expeditionary Warfare (EXW) qualification signifies that a Sailor serving at an expeditionary warfare command has achieved a high level of excellence and proficiency across their respective expeditionary warfare mission areas.
Commands are authorized to fly the Silver Expeditionary Warfare Excellence Pennant upon achieving a minimum 40 percent qualification rate based on the unit’s current on-board (COB) enlisted manning at the conclusion of the fiscal year.

Rear Adm. Kirol and CMDCM Elliot (NAVELSG), Captain Kearney and CMDCM Hazell (5NELR) joined the men and women of Navy Cargo Handling Battalion THIRTEEN this past weekend as we gathered to close an unforgettable chapter in our Navy’s history. A chapter written by the hands, hearts, and grit of the Cargo Warriors who proudly served with NCHB-13.

Commanding Officer CDR Glenn Lumpkin, CMDCM Joe Shadwick, SEL BMCS Kelvin Jones your leadership shepherded this Battalion through its final watch with honor.

BUC Allen Terry, your prayer grounded this moment in gratitude, faith, and remembrance of all who served under this banner.

For decades, NCHB-13 has been more than a Battalion; it has been a family that embodied the very spirit of expeditionary logistics. When the Fleet called, we answered. When the mission demanded more, we delivered. Across continents, climates, and conflicts, our Sailors moved the fight forward and set the GOLD standard for professionalism, readiness, innovation, and teamwork.

Our legacy isn’t found in a building or a guidon—it lives on in every cargo handler we trained, every mission we enabled, and every Sailor whose life and leadership was shaped within these ranks.

To the Sailors of NCHB-13: thank you. Thank you for the countless hours, the sacrifices made quietly, the deployments spent far from home, and the relentless commitment that strengthened our Navy and served our Nation.

NCHB-13 may be decommissioned, but its story remains alive, in the missions accomplished, the friendships forged, the families strengthened, and the legacy carried forward by every Cargo Warrior who continues to answer the call.

NCHB-13. Once a Cargo Handler, Always a Cargo Handler.

Thank you to those who attended the Cargo Ball last night!
What made the event truly memorable was seeing Cargo Warriors—past and present—reunite to celebrate what has always set NCHB-13 apart. We are more than the Navy’s finest cargo handlers—we are Cargo family. And thankfully, a decommissioning can’t change that!
