Join us for an Author Meet-And-Greet event with author Linda Schaefer as she discusses her newest book, Interior Life of a Wandering Soul, which is a reflective memoir that blends personal narrative, documentary photography, travel writing, and spiritual inquiry. Set across locations including New York, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, and the American South, the book explores themes of cancer and healing, the universal mother archetype, family relationships, solitude, and the lifelong search for inner truth.

Linda Schaefer is a writer, documentary photographer, and former photojournalist whose work explores themes of memory, faith, identity, displacement, illness, motherhood, and the search for meaning across cultures and decades.

Schaefer is also the author of Come and See: A Photojournalist’s Journey into the World of Mother Teresa and Encountering Mother Teresa. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to storytelling through both words and images, shaped by experiences in journalism, documentary photography, university teaching, and long-form writing.

Meet the author on June 19 from 1–3 PM for a discussion and book signing. Copies of Interior Life of a Wandering Soul will be available for purchase.

MLC 100 in Retrospect

In 1970, Mississippi reached a major public library milestone.

That year, all 82 counties were reportedly supporting public library service, marking an important step toward broader library access across the state.

This milestone reflected decades of work to expand public library service beyond individual towns and cities and into communities throughout Mississippi.

Explore more milestones as we celebrate 100 years of library service in Mississippi.
