On August 21, 2026, VFW Post 2539 Commander Charles Purchner Jr., along with Post Sr. Vice Commander Garrett Carson, and Post Adjutant Fred Griffin, presented a check to Anniston Avenue Elementary School PTA board member, Adrienne Daigle, to help th PTA purchase a copy machine. Several other PTA board members, and VFW Auxiliary Life Member at Large, Harold Price, were also present for the occasion.

Post Commander Charlie Purchner and all Officers along with several members of VFW Post 2539 invited Demi Johnson to the Post Home in Gulfport on July 8, 2026 to present her the award she earned as the VFW Department of Mississippi Scout of the Year. Demi was given a certificate of recognition and a monetary award for being selected as the VFW Post 2539 and VFW Department of Mississippi Scout of the Year. Congratulations to our winner, Demi Johnson.
