San Juan Springs Subdivision Evacuation Zone moves to Mandatory Evacuation

Due to growth of the Elk Fire and continued hot and dry temperature, Hinsdale County Sheriff's Office has issued a GO - EVACUATE NOW (RED) Evacuation Notice for the San Juan Springs Subdivision in Evacuation Zone E003A. Zone 3A runs from San Juan Springs Drive north and west of Hwy 149 to Independence Gulch Trailhead.

Anyone living in San Juan Springs on San Juan Springs Drive, Rocky Springs Drive, Silver Springs Drive, Elk Road, Deer Trail or Eagle Drive are now under a GO NOW evacuation notice. Property owners on these roads should EVACUATE immediately.

Evacuation Zone 2 around the Elk Fire is also going into EVACUATE NOW status.

Property owners vacating from Zones in the GO NOW (RED) evacuation status will not be permitted to re-enter the area until the evacuation status has been lifted.

- THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE DANGER
- Gather family, essentials and pets and LEAVE IMMEDIATELY
- If you need help, call 9-1-1
- ACT EARLY!
- Evacuate to the north toward Gunnison or south of Lake City.

The Hinsdale County Sheriff's Office has issued a GET SET (YELLOW) VOLUNTARY Evacuation Notice for three evacuation zones north and west of the Town of Lake City area due to a spread of the Elk Fire northwest of Lake City. The zones are specifically: WEST of Hwy 149, NORTH of Independence Gulch Trailhead to the County line (005), EAST of Hwy 149, from the Valley View property to the County line (E006) and directly west of 149 from the Country Store to Independence Trailhead (E003).]

Evacuation Zone E003 includes the north side of Pete’s Lake, Ocean Wave Dr and the Riverside, San Juan Springs and San Juan Hills neighborhoods.

The Gunnison County Sheriff has issued a 🟩Pre-Evacuation Notice for Almont and Lower Taylor Canyon in Gunnison County due to a new wildfire start in Taylor Canyon. This includes all of Almont and the Lower Taylor Canyon to Hwy 135 south to Roper Lane, including the Three Rivers Resort.
Pre-Evacuation means:
➡️That area is NOT under a Voluntary or Mandatory Evacuation order yet, but your area is at high risk.
➡️Conditions may change quickly, and we need you to be prepared and ready in case a voluntary or mandatory evacuation is issued.
➡️If you require a longer time to evacuate due to medical issues, livestock needs, or other factors, we urge you to begin evacuation preparations immediately and leave as soon as possible.

Update 4:00pm -

Fire is updated to 10 acres. Local emergency resources have returned to Gunnison and Crested Butte, and the US Forest Service has assumed command of the fire. All pre-evacuation notices have been lifted.

We are grateful for the swift response from our local emergency services, federal and state partners, and air resources that were staged at the Gunnison Airport.

Local, state, and federal emergency resources are responding to the incident.

Effective 9 AM on Wednesday, July 22, evacuation Zone 32 from the Gold Mountain Fire will be reduced to a voluntary evacuation status. This includes the area south of Storm King, east of Cimmaron Ridge to County Rd 864A in the Cimarron Valley to the US Forest Service boundary. This includes the Bear Claw, Silver Jack, Eagle's Rest, and Little Bighorn subdivisions.

Fire personnel have completed a containment line in the area, and favorable weather conditions are expected. However, conditions may change quickly, and if you are returning to your property we need you to be prepared and ready in case a mandatory evacuation is issued.

County Road 858 will be open for local traffic to the National Forest boundary. The National Forest closures will remain in place.

Hinsdale County Sheriff lifts some evacuation orders, changes others

As of 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, Hinsdale County Sheriff has changed the status in several evacuation zones in the Lake City area.

Due to the gradually improving conditions on the Elk Fire north of Lake City and the progress firefighters have made on control and contingency lines around the fire, the following changes have been made to evacuation zones:

-Zone 5 will change from Go (red) status to Get Set (yellow) status. Residents are welcome to return to their property at their leisure, but please be cautious of the fire crews still working in the area. While the current conditions have allowed for a safe return to your properties, these conditions remain dynamic and can change rapidly. Please maintain a level of readiness that would safely allow your family to evacuate if the fire conditions make an unexpected change.

- Zone 2 will remain in RED evacuated status

- Zones 3 and 6 will change from Get Set (yellow) status to Get Ready (green) status

- Zones 4,12, 13, 14 and 16 will remain in Get Ready (green) status. Residents in these zones are encouraged to remain engaged and alert to the fire conditions in case they change.

- Zones 7, 11, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 will have all evacuation statuses rescinded immediately. Residents in these zones are encouraged to remain alert and aware of their surroundings as fire conditions can rapidly change.

We want to extend a warm welcome to the Northwest 8 CIMT as they begin this next phase of fire management. We also want to express our sincere appreciation to the Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team for their dedication, professionalism, and countless hours spent managing the Elk Fire over the past couple of weeks.
