The Sanpete County Fire District engine project is officially complete! This project has taken almost four years from start to finish. We were able to put 5 new engines in Sanpete County stations and shuffled other engines into most of the other departments in the county. It also gave us the opportunity to give surrounding counties trucks that were needing a home. This project affected a lot of departments and it is amazing to see the end of it come. What an amazing achievement for our county to get receive these 5 trucks. A lot of hard work and volunteered time went into this. Beverly Thomas from the Sheriffs Department helped us write the grant to submit to the Community Impact Board(CIB). Stacey Lyon helped with all the information documents along with financial reports and then submitting all the needed paperwork to receive the grant funds. Ashlyn Sunderland kept track of all the meeting minutes needed to apply for the grant. Commissioner Scott Bartholomew for being apart of the Fire District Board and CIB board. Commissioner Bartholomew helped get us prepared for the grant application, he also helped sale it to his fellow board members of CIB. The board members of the Fire District helped prepare all this and design the trucks to best fit in our county. Nick Lyon Fire District board member and Sterling Fire Chief helped complete all the tasks needed to get this done. He volunteered hundreds of hours getting this project rolling. Nick saw this project all the way through. Eric Hintz with Graham Apparatus for designing, building and helping get this trucks into service. Thanks to the CIB board for believing in our project and awarding us the grant to make the project possible. This project was a giant team effort and Gunnison Valley Fire Department thanks every single person involved.
