Gunnison County Veteran Services is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026โ€“2027 Colorado Veteran Assistance Grant Program. Funding is available to help eligible Colorado veterans access approved health, wellness, and essential support services. Applications are processed in the order they are received, while funding remains available.
This grant is funded by the State of Colorado and administered locally through Gunnison County Veteran Services to help eligible veterans access approved services that improve health, wellness, and long-term stability.
Apply here:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GunnisonCountyVeterans
After submitting an application, I will contact applicants in the order applications are received. I will be available to assist any veteran who needs accessibility support due to technology barriers. Applying does not guarantee funding but does reserve your place in the application queue for eligibility review.
Service providers: Please feel free to share this application and flyer with eligible veterans you serve. Please consider posting the attached flyer in your office, business, or facility and sharing this opportunity with eligible veterans you serve.
Before You Apply
Because grant funds are distributed throughout the fiscal year, assistance may not be immediately available for every applicant. Applications will be reviewed in the order received, and every effort will be made to assist as many eligible veterans as possible while remaining compliant with Colorado grant requirements, applicable law, and local policy.
To be eligible:
Must be a Colorado resident military veteran.
Verification of military service (typically a DD Form 214) is required before grant funds can be approved.
Gunnison County veterans receive priority consideration, although eligible veterans residing anywhere in Colorado may apply.
Important Program Requirements
To ensure fair and consistent administration of this state-funded program, please note the following:
This is not a reimbursement program.
Grant funds are paid directly to approved service providersโ€”not to veterans.
Please contact me before scheduling a service or making a purchase. Prior approval is required.
Veterans may not commit grant funds or authorize services on behalf of this program.
Emergency assistance requests require additional financial review before approval.
Funding is limited and may be exhausted before the end of the grant cycle.
These requirements help ensure grant funds remain available to serve as many veterans as possible while maintaining compliance with State of Colorado grant policy.
Thank you for supporting Colorado's veterans. I appreciate your help ensuring this opportunity reaches those who can benefit from it.

NATIONAL POPPY DAY!
The red poppy speaks where words fall short - a silent tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedom by the heros who served and died for our country in all wars. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน The poppy is a reminder that their courage will never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

After World War I, the American Legion Family brought National Poppy Day to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day as National Poppy Day.

The Auxiliary promotes the poppy as a symbol of the sacrifices our military have made, a symbol to open people's hearts and inspire them to donate to help support the future of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

Today on National Poppy Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living. โค๏ธ
