☀️ Summer is often a time for vacations, family gatherings, and making memories—but it can also bring unique challenges for many households.

Through our Helping Families Initiative (HFI), we remain committed to supporting families throughout the summer months by providing guidance, connecting people with available resources, and offering assistance when needs arise.

If you or someone you know is facing a difficult season, we encourage you to reach out. Sometimes a simple conversation can help identify the right resources and support for your situation.

Congratulations to Assistant District Attorney Roxana Lopez on graduating from the Marshall County Leadership Challenge!

During the program, Roxana and her classmates had the opportunity to learn more about the many organizations, businesses, and services that impact Marshall County while developing leadership skills and strengthening connections throughout the community.

As part of the program, Roxana and her classmates helped create Pantry of Hope, a community project focused on serving food-insecure individuals and families throughout Marshall County. Their dedication and hard work will leave a lasting impact on our community.

We are proud of Roxana's commitment to leadership and service, and we are grateful to have her representing the Marshall County District Attorney's Office. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved accomplishment! 👏

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office is proud to join communities across the nation in raising awareness about the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults.

Our seniors deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and care. Unfortunately, elder abuse can happen in many forms, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, financial exploitation, and neglect, and it often goes unreported.

June 15 is recognized as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and people are encouraged to wear purple to show solidarity, honor survivors, and help raise awareness about preventing elder abuse and exploitation.

By learning the warning signs and speaking up when something seems wrong, we can help protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

If you suspect elder abuse, please contact local authorities or Adult Protective Services. Together, we can help keep our seniors safe.

This month, we are proud to recognize our Child Support Unit Clerk, Whitley Dalton, in our June Employee Spotlight.

The Child Support Unit works each day to help serve families throughout the 27th Judicial Circuit, and we are proud of the dedication and compassion this division brings to our community alongside Marshall County Department of Human Resources.

Last year, the Alabama Department of Human Resources Child Support Enforcement Division recognized the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office Child Support Unit for outstanding work in child support enforcement. Out of 25 counties, our unit received three of the seven awards presented, and Whitley has been an important part of that success.

Whitley studied at Jacksonville State University and has been a valued member of our office for several years. Outside of work, she and her husband, Wade, enjoy spending time with their son. She is very creative and enjoys gardening, DIY projects, thrifting, traveling, rescuing kittens, and spending time with family.

Whitley, thank you for the dedication, compassion, and care you bring to your role each day. We are grateful to have you as part of our team.
