Killingsworth Cove Volunteer Fire Department Killingsworth Cove Fire Department is a 100% Volunteer Organization dedicated to the preservation of life and property with Fire, Rescue, and EMS Services

Killingsworth Cove Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department with 6 active and 11 support members. We are dedicated to the preservation of life and property for the residents of Killingsworth Cove with Fire Protection and Rescue Services, and Emergency Medical Services. We are also on first alarm backup to support Central VFD, Gurley VFD, and Keel Mountain VFD. We have five apparatus: Engine

125, Engine 225, Attack 125, Brush 125, and Special Response 225. We operate out of two stations at 111 Killingsworth Cove Road and 876 Killingsworth Cove Road. Our membership consists of:

On July 30th at 11am Killingsworth Cove, Central Fire/Ems and Gurley Fire & Rescue we're dispatched to a structure fire on Mockingbird Lane. We were assisted on scene by units from Huntsville Fire and Rescue, Paint Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Moores Mill Volunteer Fire Department, New Market Volunteer Fire Department, Toney Volunteer Fire Department, Hazel Green Volunteer Fire Department, HEMSI, Madison County Sheriff's Office, Huntsville Utilities, Madison County Commission District 3, Madison County Water Department, and the American Red Cross.

No residents or responders were injured in the incident but the home is a total loss. Our prayers go out to those affected and our deepest appreciation for all the responders who helped us fight a difficult fire in intense heat.

The Huntsville National Weather Service has determined there were 2 tornadoes on Monday that impacted areas around New Market, AL. The primary tornado was an EF-1 with peak winds of 90 mph that touched down in Sharon Johnson Park and traveled a little more than 5 miles going up and over Backbone Mountain. A smaller 'satellite' tornado also formed that rotated around the main circulation. This was a weaker EF-0 tornado with peak winds estimated at 80 mph.
