Green Shift responded to South Capitol for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved car fire in close proximity to a structure. The team acted quickly and performed an effective fire attack, achieving a rapid knockdown and preventing extension. Following the incident, Green Shift promptly returned to service and was available to respond to an ambulance call. There were no injuries reported at the scene.

Today, before the inclement weather arrived, we had the opportunity to celebrate the retirement of Captain Reihs. Captain Reihs has proudly served this department and our community for 25 years. In addition to his career as a first responder, he also dedicated many years of his life to serving our country in the military.

Captain Reihs and his wife, Creedy, call Guthrie home, where they raised their two sons—both graduates of Guthrie Public Schools. We wish Captain Reihs nothing but the best in his well-earned retirement and many enjoyable moments ahead with his family.

Please join us in congratulating Captain Reihs on a job exceptionally well done!

Thank you to our friends over at Logan County Emergency Management

When there’s a need……..

This morning the Logan County EM Office checked with the Guthrie Fire Department to see if they needed anything. It was realized, by no fault of the FD, that their bottled water supply had been depleted. As a former firefighter, the importance of staying hydrated while battling a fire is just as important during the winter as it is in the summer. Dehydration can set in faster during winter months because the body is cold and doesn’t realize the need for hydration.

A call was immediately placed with partners and a pallet of water was obtained from one of our organizations we work with in OKC. With the help of some thirsty firefighters, the water was unload and moved to the storage area.

We would like to thank our partners available to us that come through when in need. Community partnership is what keeps everyone supplied.
