By sharing it on this page hopefully parents can be more aware of the events and opportunities available to the students. If you have questions about an event, we will do our best to find an answer. Our 2026 HS Varsity Co-Ed Track coaching staff will be conducting a meeting on Monday, March 9th immediately after school from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in either the cafeteria or library. Subway food and beverages will be available to those who attend with an interest in this spring's program. Please attend even if you are undecided or would like to find out how you can dual sport with track being your NON-primary sport. You MUST have a sports physical dated between April 15, 2025 and the first day of physical practice this season that's uploaded in Final Forms to participate in MHSAA spring sports (2026). We are looking forward to the season ahead!

Mrs. Soucy will be hosting a six-week art club on Tuesdays, starting October 10th, from 3:15-4:15 in the art room. This is open to all middle/high school students. The cost is $30. If interested, please see Mrs. Soucy or Ms. Anderson for an art club form.

10/05/2023 - 10/12/2023 High School Homecoming Dance
There is a high school dance Friday the 13th after the varsity football game. You must have your handbook form turned in or you will not be allowed to attend. If you are bringing a guest you need to get a guest request from from the office and turn it in before noon on Thursday or they will not be able to attend.

A reminder to Seniors who are interested in Bay College to fill out the BAY IS THE WAY form on Classroom and submit to her by Tuesday, October 17th.

Congrats to Thomas Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Donald Jourdan, Ezekial Post and Landon Spade who were Escanaba Eskymos Cross Country Invitational Champions at their meet over the weekend! Way to represent Gwinn!

School Pictures will take place Thursday, October 19th. All students will have their photo taken if they order or not, including seniors.

Interested in being a firefighter? Forsyth Township Fire Department is bringing back the cadet program! Any student 14 and older may pick up an application from Mrs. LaRock or at the firehall this Wednesday 5-7!

Gwinn Middle High School Choir is having its first concert on October 19th at 7:00 in the cafeteria. Come join us for a night of music. There is a suggested donation of $3 to attend.

There is a sign up sheet for 7th and 8th grade MS Boys Basketball on the athletic counter. If you are interested in playing, please sign up. Now is the time to get your physical if you haven't. You will need one on file in the office to try out.

ATTENDANCE LINE:

Please use our attendance line (906-346-9247 press #1) when calling in your student absent, tardy or for early pickup.

Early Pickup: We ask that you give us at least a 1/2 hour to be able to check the attendance line. This gives us time to listen, record and be able to get a pass to your student.

Student Absent For Day: Please call promptly in the a.m. if your child is absent.

Student Late For School: Leave message on attendance line. Student must check in at the main office to get a pass back to class.

Please make sure you leave the student's first/last name and grade, and your first and last name and phone number. Spelling the last name would be helpful to new office staff. 😀

If you would like your student to get a message towards the end of the day, please make sure you give us 1/2 hour to be able to track them down and get them the message.

Behind on homework? Need help from a teacher or a quiet place to study? Waiting in the building for an activity to start? Middle and high school students are encouraged to attend after-school homework lab in Mrs. Hollands' room (118) or Mrs. Heinzel's Room (105). We are open Monday through Thursday until 4:30, and Friday until 4:00.

HS Bowling Club If you are in 9th through 12th grade and have interest in being a part of a possible BOWLING CLUB this school year, please sign-up at the athletic counter. Thanks and GO MODELTOWNERS!

COMING SOON: SCHOOL PICTURE DAY! School picture day will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Make sure to look and dress your best!! All orders will be taken after picture day. Students will receive a printed proof and be able to order online.

Drama Auditions Auditions for our winter production of The Play That Goes Wrong will be held in the band room on October 3rd after school. Callbacks will be held on October 5th. Actors will need to prepare and memorize a one-minute monologue for this audition. This is a small-cast production so be prepared and bring your A-game. Sign up for an audition time on the Drama Club Google Classroom. Email Mr. Hantz if you need an invite to the Google Classroom or have any questions.

Handbook Forms Student Handbook papers must be turned into the office ASAP. Not turning it in may prevent you from activities such as Perk Days and the Homecoming Dance. Get them turned in today!!

Junior Class Meeting Juniors, there will be a class meeting this Friday in the band room at 7:30 to pick our homecoming theme. If you can't make it send your ideas to Mr. Hantz.

Su***de Prevention Awareness Month Tomorrow is su***de prevention awareness tshirt day-----wear purple or turquoise or a positive message. If you participate your name will be entered in the prize box. See Mrs. Micheau to sign your name for participating. Drawings will take place October 2nd.

Yes you heard that correctly, some secrets, especially life threatening ones, need to be shared with a trusted adult. It is always recommended to take threats of someone saying they are going to hurt themselves seriously. DO not agree to keep it a secret. Seek out a trusted adult. Everyone's lives matter.

Tennis Announcement Congrats to the following girls who placed in yesterday's Middle Peninsula Conference matches in Negaunee yesterday. Miaha Schiefel took 3rd today for 1 singles and Nola Puyear and Skylar Spencer took 4th for 1 doubles.

Hockey Co-Op With the high school hockey season approaching fast we are having an informational parents meeting on October 10th at 6:30pm in the library of Negaunee High School. Stop by the office if you would like more information about open skate times and the meeting.

1 singles Miaha Schiefel won both sets against Ishpeming (6-2, 6-2) and ironwood (6-2, 6-3).
2 singles Brooke Chaput beat Ishpeming in a Tie breaker game (2-6, 6,4, TB 10-7). Beat iron wood (6-0,6-0)

3rd singles Taylor Babiezcko beat ironwood (6-2, 6-0)

1 doubles Nola Puyear and Skylar Spencer beat Ironwood in a Tie breaker game (6-4, 4-6, TB 13-11)
