🚗 CRIME PREVENTION ALERT: Protect Your Vehicle From Theft! 🚗

Vehicle thefts can happen in the blink of an eye, but taking proactive steps can significantly lower your risk of becoming a target. Follow these key prevention tips to keep your vehicle secure:

⚠️ DON'T MAKE IT EASY:

Beware of "Warm-Up" Thefts: Never leave your vehicle running unattended, even for a quick minute on cold mornings.

Never Leave Keys Inside: Always take your keys or fobs with you and lock your doors every single time you park.

🔒 PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE:

Block Transponder Signals: Keep key fobs away from exterior doors and windows, or consider using an RFID signal-blocking box to prevent thieves from duplicating your fob's code.

Use Anti-Theft Devices: Utilize a steering wheel club—especially if you drive a high-risk vehicle like a Hyundai or Kia.

Park Smart: Choose well-lit areas and always remain aware of your surroundings when exiting or approaching your vehicle.

National drug take back day is this Saturday. As a reminder there is a collection box outside the front doors of the Woodlawn precinct. You can drop off your unused and expired medications 24/7!

Baltimore County Police Promote National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Baltimore County Police Department is encouraging residents to participate in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will be held Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drug take-back programs play a critical role in reducing access to unused prescription medications, which can often be a source of misuse. They also help prevent medications from being improperly discarded.

Residents are encouraged to remove personal information from prescription labels before disposal. Liquid forms of medication should be sealed securely in a Ziploc bag, needles and syringes should not be disposed of in a drug drop-off box.

The Department maintains secure drug drop-off boxes at each police precinct for community members to dispose of medications year-round. For additional information, residents may contact their local precinct.

Fi***rm Recovered at High School Registered to Another Student's Parent

Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department have determined the fi***rm recovered from a Woodlawn High School student last week is registered to the parent of another student at the school. Officers recovered the fi***rm after responding to reports of an armed subject on campus.

As previously shared, the Department launched an investigation over the weekend into a reported threat of violence at Woodlawn High School after receiving information through the Maryland Center for School Safety. As the source of the threat remains under investigation, the Department has deployed additional resources to the school and surrounding area.

Parents and guardians are urged to speak with their children about the importance of reporting potential threats. Students can share concerns with a school resource officer, teacher, administrator, or any member of law enforcement. Information may also be submitted anonymously through Safe Schools Maryland.

The Baltimore County Police Department is aware of a threat involving Woodlawn High School circulating on social media. The threat has been reported and is being investigated. The Baltimore County Police Department is working alongside Baltimore County Public Schools and will have additional resources in place.

Arrest Made in Woodlawn Shooting


Towson, MD (October 16, 2026) -Detectives from the Woodlawn Precinct are investigating the circumstances surrounding an accidental discharging. At approximately 4:20 p.m., on October 15, officers responded to the 6000 block of Central Ave, 21207 for reports of a shooting. Once on scene officers located 19-year-old Michael Paz Salgad suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. Through their investigation, detectives concluded that this shooting was an accidental discharge.


Due to his age, Michael Paz Salgad has been charged with multiple offenses including fi***rms related charges and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
