🔥 FIRE DANGER INCREASED TO VERY HIGH 🔥

Eagle County has officially moved into VERY HIGH Fire Danger.

A combination of critically dry fuels, hot temperatures, low humidity, and increasing winds is creating conditions where wildfires can start easily and spread rapidly.

🚩 A Red Flag Warning is in effect today.
🚩 A Fire Weather Watch is in effect tomorrow.
🚩 Additional Red Flag conditions are possible throughout the week.

Current conditions include:
🌡️ Temperatures near 90°F
💧 Relative Humidity as low as 6–10%
💨 Afternoon wind gusts of 30–40+ mph
🌲 Critically dry timber, brush, and curing grass fuels

While many people notice the drying grasses, our greatest concern is the continued drying of timber and brush fuels throughout Eagle County. These fuels can support intense fire behavior and make wildfires difficult to control once established.

⚠️ During periods of Very High Fire Danger, even a single spark can have significant consequences.

Please do your part:
✅ Follow Stage 1 Fire Restrictions
✅ Secure trailer chains
✅ Avoid parking in dry grass
✅ Use caution with equipment that creates sparks
✅ Leave fireworks at home
✅ Report smoke or fire immediately

Our firefighters, mitigation crews, dispatchers, and emergency management partners remain prepared and ready to respond, but preventing a wildfire start remains our best defense.

🔥 One Less Spark = One Less Wildfire 🔥

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY 🚩

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Eagle County through Wednesday due to prolonged critical fire weather conditions.

🔥 What does this mean?

A Red Flag Warning is issued when warm temperatures, very low humidity, strong winds, and dry fuels combine to create conditions where wildfires can start easily and spread rapidly.

Forecast conditions include:
🌡️ Temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s
💧 Relative humidity as low as 6–10%
💨 Winds 20–40 mph
🌬️ Wind gusts up to 55 mph
🌲 Extremely dry timber, brush, and grass fuels

The biggest concern is the duration of this event. Multiple days of critical fire weather will continue to dry fuels and increase the potential for fast-moving wildfires across Eagle County.

⚠️ Fire Danger remains HIGH countywide.

Please do your part to prevent human-caused wildfires:
✅ Secure trailer chains
✅ Avoid parking in dry grass
✅ Use caution with equipment that can create sparks
✅ Follow all fire restrictions
✅ Report smoke or fire immediately

One less spark means one less wildfire.
