Bringing the energy for day one! 🎒✨ Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton joined Interim Superintendent Lamarr Thomas at Dr. John Grieco Elementary School to welcome our students back in the best way possible. As students return to the classroom, drivers should expect increased pedestrian traffic, school buses and reduced speed limits near schools.

🛑 Stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights
🚸 Watch carefully for children at crossings
📵 Stay alert and avoid distractions

Sheriff Anthony Cureton and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach Unit were honored to participate in Community Baptist Church of Englewood’s “Real Talk” event.

Lieutenant Damian Pope led an interactive virtual simulator session that placed community members in the role of law enforcement officers. Participants navigated realistic scenarios requiring split-second decisions involving communication, officer safety, de-escalation, and the use of force.

The audience asked thoughtful questions and gained valuable insight into law enforcement encounters, including how to respond safely and appropriately.

Thank you to everyone who participated, engaged in meaningful conversations, and helped us continue building a safer, more informed, and more unified Bergen County! 💙🛡️

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Community Release Center recently completed another wheelchair ramp project in Hasbrouck Heights, helping a resident improve accessibility, safety, and independence.

As part of Sheriff Anthony Cureton’s commitment to rehabilitation and community service, Officer Gomez supervised a Community Release Center inmate work crew who provided the labor to construct the ramp at no cost to the homeowner. Through projects like these, participants gain valuable construction skills while giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

Residents are responsible for providing the construction materials. For qualifying households that meet income guidelines ($40,000–$54,000), partner nonprofit organizations may be able to assist with material costs.

🏡 This program reflects the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing commitment to improving lives through service, rehabilitation, and community partnerships.

Today, our Command Staff and Community Outreach Unit had a fantastic time joining the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) for its annual Field Day! We played games, shared plenty of laughs, and created lasting memories with the children.

Thank you to DCF for bringing everyone together for such a fun and meaningful day. Building stronger communities begins with supporting and uplifting our youth! 🤝🏾🌟
