Coming in June! Reward your curiosity and step into a world where nothing is as it first appears.

Join us for the opening reception of Jim Nonas’ latest collection of original collage works—an immersive showcase built from fragments of everyday life, transformed into richly layered landscapes, cityscapes, and imagined scenes.

From a distance, each piece feels familiar. Up close, a different story unfolds. Hundreds of carefully placed clippings—textures, colors, and hidden details—come together to create compositions that reward curiosity and invite a second look.

This special exhibition features original works, offering a rare opportunity to experience Nonas’ process and precision beyond print.

Meet the artist, explore the collection, and discover how discarded pieces of the past can be reassembled into something entirely new.

🗓 Opening Reception: Thursday June 11th 6-9 PM
📍 Location: Hackensack Preforming Arts Center 102 State Street Hackensack NJ

Jim Nonas is a self-taught artist who uses magazines as his color palette, meticulously hand-cutting small pieces to create striking large-scale images. Each piece is crafted on stretched canvas and sealed with a UV-resistant varnish for lasting vibrancy.
Jim’s unique collage work has gained international recognition. He is currently contracted with Wentworth Puzzle Company in the UK and Giallobus in Italy to create exclusive wall art collections by the end of the year.
Based in New Jersey, Jim regularly exhibits his work in local venues and leads creative workshops through community art clubs. His talent has been recognized with multiple awards, including honors from Bergen County Art in the Park and Focus New Jersey. He was also featured in the April 2019 issue of Northwest Bergen Lifestyles Magazine.

TOMORROW (Thursday)!! If you adore colorful, playful, almost Matisse-like art, we have more than 21 gorgeous paintings by artist, Britt Sikiric, for you to fall in love with! Color, Buzz, Fly is a beautifully expressive and whimsical solo art exhibition on view for the month of May. Britt is a New Jersey–based painter and muralist who earned a BFA in Fine Arts, with a concentration in painting, from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Since graduating from the School of Visual Arts, Britt has taken on murals, fine art commissions, visual merchandising, and set design. Her work spans both public spaces and studio pieces, guided by an interest in color, process, and accessibility.

She currently teaches art at a special needs school, where the curriculum focuses on choice, experimentation and individual expression. Alongside teaching, Britt continues to paint murals and accept commissions, maintaining a practice that connects the classroom to the community.

“I’m an expressive painter working from intuition and feeling.
My process begins with a single spark - a color, movement, or moment of energy - and unfolds subconsciously from there. I don’t plan; I respond. Each piece is a direct translation of impulse onto canvas.

My work resists repetition and traditional series, but it’s unified by its energy. Restless and intuitive, my paintings are visual records of emotion in motion, each one an extension of my personality and a pursuit of congruous energy across the whole body of work.”

We’re heading into the final few days of our April exhibition, Far-Fetched by artist Ever Blanco Valverde. Ever’s work is so clever and skillfully painted, and yes, Far-Fetched! It’s been a pleasure to have Ever and his humorous charming paintings in our gallery this month!

“Imagery has proven to be my most amenable vehicle for translating inner
vision into something more concrete. Through my work there is a narrative communication that unfolds within the sequence of each piece. As a visual artist, I address ecological and social issues by observing human behavior—how we relate to each other and to the world we inhabit.

My work explores the sensitive relationship between chaos and order, the individual and the collective, spiritual practice and everyday life. I aim to challenge sentimentality by probing these tensions and revealing the emotional structures beneath them.

During the development of a piece, I begin with a series of sketches that evolve into full-sized drawings. Often, a drawing leads to other surfaces, such as painting or sculpture. My technique generally consists of constructing and deconstructing layers of media, using materials such as charcoal, oil, clay, and found objects. Layers and surfaces become direct methods of expression, allowing the resulting image to reflect the many voices of my process.

The linear quality of my work invites the viewer to read between the lines. In the act of making, line carries the qualities of light, while tone embodies mood. I consider an image complete when light and mood achieve a balanced dialogue, allowing for an objective representation of my experiences.”
