We need to care for our community caregivers!

Congress passed a budget reconciliation package that represents a profound betrayal of the millions of Americans navigating complex care for friends and family.

“This legislation weakens the healthcare foundation that enables ordinary people to provide extraordinary care,” said Jason Resendez, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Caregiving.

By cutting Medicaid and adding strict work requirements, Congress is making it harder for caregivers to access the support they need. Parents of children with disabilities, adult children caring for aging parents, and spouses supporting loved ones with chronic illness will now face even more barriers.

These are real people. They are the quiet heroes holding our communities together.

We are deeply grateful to the family caregivers and advocates from across the nation who organized, shared their stories, and made tens of thousands of calls to elected representatives. The ground is shifting under us like never before, but we’re still standing.

We remain committed to fighting the most devastating impacts of this legislation on our nation’s family caregivers and to building a more caring future.
