May is Military Appreciation Month, but in Bergen County we honor the service and sacrifices of our armed forces every single day. Last Friday, we were proud to host our Military Appreciation Ceremony as a small token of our gratitude, and to recognize eight Bergen County veterans for their outstanding service.

Whether it’s securing $8 million in earned compensation and benefits for veterans and their families, expanding access to care through Bergen New Bridge Medical Center — a designated “Veteran’s Choice” facility — or reaching a functional zero for veteran homelessness, we remain committed to serving our veterans and service members through action, just as they have served us.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special ceremony, and thank you to our active‑duty service members, veterans, and military families whose strength and sacrifice make our communities stronger. We keep our POWs and those still Missing in Action in our hearts, and will never stop seeking answers.

On behalf of the County of Bergen, thank you for your service.

Last week, the County of Bergen was honored to host a Military Appreciation Month ceremony, recognizing the incredible valor and sacrifices of our armed forces. We paid tribute to our POWs and those still missing in action, the military families supporting our armed forces and those still living without answers, and all our veterans who have selflessly served our nation.

Our veterans have served us with courage — and we are committed to serving them in return. Whether that be securing $8 million in earned compensation and benefits for veterans and their families, expanding access to care by having Bergen New Bridge Medical Center designated as a "Veteran's Choice" facility by the VA, or becoming one of the first counties in the nation to reach a functional zero for veteran homelessness, we support our veterans through action, not just words.

As Memorial Day approaches, we honor the sacrifices that safeguard the freedoms that we often take for granted. To all who have worn the uniform and the families who stand behind them: thank you. The County of Bergen is forever grateful for your service.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this ceremony.
