Congratulations to Steven, who was selected as the 7th grade winner of the Earth Day Illustration Contest hosted by ReadWorks! 🎉

Steven's submission was chosen as the top 7th grade entry in this national competition, standing out among more than 4,000 submissions. His artwork was submitted by his interdisciplinary teacher, Ms. Tiboldo.

The title of his winning illustration is "A Trip Upstream: River Herring Make an Important Journey."

"When I first read 'A Trip Upstream,' I was struck by how much the river herring actually has to survive just to spawn. Instead of just drawing a fish, I wanted to capture the physical reality of the migration." — Steven

Today we honored Mr. Joseph Urban and congratulated him on his well-deserved retirement. 💙💛

Mr. Urban has dedicated more than 30 years as a physical education teacher serving the students, staff, and families of Hackensack Public Schools. Throughout his career, he has inspired generations of students through his unwavering commitment, leadership, and pride in the Blue & Gold community.

Today, our students & staff came together to celebrate his years of service and thank him for the lasting impact he has made both inside and outside the classroom.

Congratulations, Mr. Urban, and thank you for your dedication to Hackensack Public Schools. Wishing you a retirement filled with happiness, health, and new adventures!
