But that does not mean we are done producing reports for our clients! Snow doesn't stop when the calendar hits March. In fact, we have done reports in June and August (Looking at you Colorado and Alaska ๐Ÿ‘€).

Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow this morning. Although it's kind of hard to get one when it's been so cloudy out. So an early spring is coming right?

Not so fast Phil! You'll want to keep the shovels and snow blowers handy as we expect winter to ramp back up later this month, where the pattern becomes much more favorable for bigger storms (even more so that the past month or so).

It's been quite some time since we did an update, so we decided to update the map. With the arctic outbreak and wintry weather hitting the gulf states, we have finally welcomed Louisiana and Northern Florida to the CST club! The only state across the Lower 48 that has yet to see a report is South Carolina. Still a lot of winter left to go folks...

Why should anyone get their snow totals verified? Sure, you can get a total from just about anywhere, but is it representative of your location? Most snow totals listed online are usually taken at face value and rarely questioned or filtered. Not with our totals!

And it's all because of our highest Quality Control standards in the industry, filtering out the good from the bad observations. Our meteorologists spend hours looking into things like the time of day, varying temperature and precipitation changes, drifting, compaction, and more.

When you you receive a report from Certified Snowfall Totalsยฎ, you're getting more than just a number: You're getting a complete documentation of the snow or ice event. To try out a free DEMO today, visit CertifiedSnowfallTotals.com

Here is a bigger picture of our snow forecast for the northeast this weekend. This is a classic "I-95" storm; with a bulk of the snow staying NW with more rai/mixing occurring. The greatest risk for 6"+ will be across interior PA to NW NJ and especially over New England, with even some 10"+ potential.

One thing to really focus on is the circled red area from NYC to NW MD. This is going to be where you have a really sharp gradient in snow totals, all thank to that pesky rain-snow line. While places near and south of I-95 likely see little to nothing, just 10 -15 miles NW could be looking at as much as 1-3".

Let's talk more about the weekend storm. We've seen a lot of traction/hype develop in the past 36 hours, especially when modeled snow maps were shown all over social media with FEET of snow from DC to NYC ๐Ÿ™„. With that being said, Here are the facts.

This is likely going to be the biggest storm weโ€™ve seen SO FAR this winter season in the northeast, largely occurring Saturday evening into Sunday. Model guidance has come in a bit more NW with the track, keeping it more of a coastal hugger. This would ultimately keep the best snows NW and more of a mix/rain toward and SE of the I-95 corridor.

There still are lots to iron out, given we are ~5 days out. That includes not just snow totals but the track of the storm, which will be adjusted as we go into the week. This will also determine how far north the rain/snow line sets up and where the heaviest snow potential lies. We'll be tracking this all week. Don't let your guard down though!
