Friendly reminder…we guarantee you will leave smiling
Info session Tuesday, September 1, 11:15 AM (kazoos provided)
We are actively recruiting more members for our “world-famous” Golden Kazoo band. We had a fantastic and fun inaugural year and are ready to bring in some new members.
Info Session Tuesday, September 1, 11:15a-12:15p (second floor)
The Golden Kazoos is a kazoo band for those who don't take themselves too seriously OR for those who want to take themselves less seriously. Practices are Tuesdays from 11:15am-12:15pm, upstairs at Mabel Kay, starting September 8. It is okay if you need to skip a practice - come when you can, don’t come when you can’t - this is not meant to be stressful in any way.
Benefits of playing a kazoo:
• It's fun and accessible
• It relieves stress
• It stimulates the vagus nerve
• It improves breathing and lung capacity
• It boosts creativity and musical expression
• It's social and builds community
• It's affordable
• It's a great way to connect with kids and grandkids
• You need NO musical experience or talent
• Anyone who has ever tried to play a kazoo generally ends up smiling and feeling a little bit lighter and more relaxed
We will have at the front desk a basket of cheap plastic kazoos that you are welcome to take from and play around with. During the month of August, anyone who plays a song for me can earn a free exercise class (one free class per person). If you don’t know how to play a kazoo, stop by my desk for Kazoo 101 (the major rule..."Hum, don't Blow")
Last year we performed at all major Mabel Kay events, the Haddonfield Fall Festival, and The Collingswood Manor. We hope this year to perform also at elementary schools, pre-schools and at more assisted living home/nursing homes/etc.
We are working with Brandywine Living’s transportation folks to see if they could help transport us to/from gigs (yes, a band bus!)
Please spread the word to anyone you know who is young at heart and just cockamamie enough to give it a shot. No experience required.
