Tonight is one of my favorite nights of the year: The Holiday Tree Lighting!

So many of our faiths, cultures, & traditions celebrate the concept of light over darkness, and the coming of a new season of joy. Tonight we get to share in this beautiful symbolism when we join together as one community, to celebrate the lighting of a single tree.

Join me for music & hot cocoa at 6pm, with the tree lighting commencing at 6:30pm. Then, we will parade to Kings Court for visits with Mr. & Mrs. Claus, musical entertainment, and of course, opportunities to support our small businesses in Downtown Haddonfield!

Many thanks to all who helped celebrate the ground breaking ceremony yesterday!

Some days are more meaningful than others.

Today I celebrated nearly 4 years (since being elected in November, 2019!) of hard work to get us over $4M in funding for a first of its kind, small-scale, achievable housing development in the ❤️ of our historic Downtown Haddonfield, and move forward with a development that languished for over 15 years: finally, groundbreaking on Snowden!

I say “achievable,” not “affordable,” because if you grew up in a household like mine, you understand that striving to raise your family in a beautiful, safe community with excellent schools is not just about affordability. It’s about hard work, dignity, and dedication; it’s about providing that “missing middle” housing stock that evades many hard-working people & families, now more than ever. It represents a vision for inclusion, equality, and equity that decades of deliberately complex and discriminatory policies & laws prevented from becoming our reality - not just here in Haddonfield, but all over this state, and across our country.

Thank you to everyone who worked with me - and challenged me - to make this possible, make it better, and make it what it will become for 20 individuals and/or families: HOME.

Special thanks to Commissioner Kevin Roche, who spent the last two years digging in and doing the work (aka: the math!) to contribute to our scattered site approach, which creates additional housing opportunities.

Borough of Haddonfield Commissioner Kevin Roche, Commissioner of Revenue and Finance, announces Moody's Investor Services assigns Aa1 long-term and MIG 1 short-term ratings to the Borough's bonds and notes. "Aa1 is considered one of the highest ratings in the country for municipalities, and the Borough continues to strive for the highest bond rating, the elusive Aaa," said Roche. "Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, the Borough maintained its fiscal strength during the pandemic, and we continue to utilize strong financial management policies and practices."
Moody's Aa1 bond rating is the second highest rating a debt instrument can be assigned. Moody's judges' Aa1 debts to be of high quality and are subject to limited credit risk for investors, equating to a relatively low-interest rate for the Borough.

At a press conference today on the steps of Borough Hall, Mayor Bianco Bezich announced the Borough received five-million dollars ($5,000,000.00) from the State of New Jersey for the new headquarters of The Haddonfield Police Department.
Governor Murphy signed the fiscal year 2024 Budget on June 30, 2023, which included the five-million-dollar line item for Haddonfield's new Police Headquarters.
In April, Mayor Bianco Bezich made a formal request to State Senator James Beach, 6th Legislative District, requesting funding for the purchase and retrofitting of the former Bank of America building located at 1 Walnut Street. The request included letters of support from Camden County Commissioner Dir. Cappelli, Majority Leader Greenwald, Assemblywoman Lampitt, and numerous neighboring Chiefs of Police.
At the press conference this afternoon, Chief Cutler thanked Mayor Bianco Bezich, Commissioner Kevin Roche, and Commissioner Frank Troy for voting to purchase the new building.
The Chief also expressed gratitude to State Senator Beach for prioritizing Haddonfield as the senators’ number one funding request for the 2024 budget.
