Hi EKD Families! A message from the PTO:
The PTO hopes the school year is off to a great start for your student! This is a reminder that we are selling candy grams for $1 and they are due Friday, August 28. The PTO will deliver the candy grams to students on Friday. Attached is the flyer with more details and the note sheet that you can print and return with $1 per candy gram. You can send them to your student, teachers, the whole class, or your student can send them to their friends.

¡La PTO espera que el año escolar haya comenzado de maravilla para su estudiante! Les recordamos que estamos vendiendo mensajes con dulces (*candy grams*) por $1; la fecha límite para entregarlos es el viernes 28 de agosto. La PTO hará entrega de estos mensajes a los estudiantes ese mismo viernes. Adjuntamos el folleto con más detalles y la hoja de notas que pueden imprimir y devolver junto con el pago de $1 por cada mensaje. Pueden enviarlos a su estudiante, a los maestros o a toda la clase, o bien, su estudiante puede enviarlos a sus amigos.

Thank you to staff for being prepared for a great day of learning. Thank you to families for trusting EKD with your children. Thank you to our students for being engaged throughout the day. The 2026-2027 school year is off to a fantastic start.

In exactly 24 hours, our doors will open to welcome nearly 400 students. We can't wait! Doors open as early as 7:50am. All students must arrive by 8:10am.
Do you know that all EKD students are eligible to enjoy FREE breakfast and lunch daily? Lunch menus are posted on the WCPS website and updated monthly.

Pay your school fees and add money to meal accounts from anywhere, any time.

Today's the day we welcome families to our Open House! We look forward to seeing you anytime between 4:00-6:00 this evening.
If you already have your supplies, you may drop them off in your classroom when you meet your child's teacher
If you need supplies, we will have them in the cafeteria.
Spoken language and ASL interpreters will be available throughout the event, so if you need the assistance of interpreters, just let us know.
Ps - the PTO has a special activity for parents/guardians, so bring some cash and stop by the PTO table to learn more.

EKD staff have been actively preparing for the students' return to school. On Tuesday, representatives from WCPS, the Washington County Health Department, and Meritus teamed up to train EKD staff to address urgent medical issues that could impact students, staff, or family members.
The EKD commitment to safety complements its commitment to academic success.
