This past Thursday, August 20th, Chaplain Kauffman visited the Lifehouse Church.

He presented a Certificate of Appreciation and letter from Thomas Pangborn Lodge 88 to Lead Pastor Patrick Grach, Discipleship Pastor Curt Snyder, and the Lifehouse Church for hosting this year's Police Week Church Remembrance Service.

Photo is of Pastor Patrick holding the Certificate of Appreciation, while Chaplain Kauffman reads the Letter of Gratitude from the Lodge, and Pastor Curt looks on.

Thank you gifts were given to all of the service participants and church staff.

Thank them for making our 2026 Memorial Church service one of the best!

Dan Young, candidate for Washington County Commissioner, attended the August Lodge meeting to talk about his campaign for office with our members.

Mr. Young gave us a personal biography of his education and Fire & Rescue background, experience, and service. He expressed his beliefs in traditional values, his support of the Public Safety Services in Washington County, and his vision and long-range plans to maintain that high standard for the citizens of our County. He discussed the importance of smart development and some of the hurtles facing the County. After candidate Young’s presentation he had a question-and-answer session with our membership. When finished Dan’s grasp of the issues made a very good impression on all who heard him speak. He’s well prepared and knowledgeable on the issues in the future for our County and communities.

During his presentation his three children sat quietly in the meeting room while their father addressed the membership. Their reward was Dad taking them to our neighbor, Sweetsies Eats & Treats for some ice cream.

👏 👏 The bridge is open!

Exciting news! The US 40 Bridge over Conococheague Creek bridge rehabilitation project is reopening the bridge and removing the US 40 detour on Friday, August 14! That’s right traffic will be able to return to the bridge! It is expected to be open for traffic by mid-day. The historic bridge needed a new bridge deck, parapet walls, and bridge support columns. That work has been completed. More good news will come when the kayak launch improvement is completed!

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of our SHA partner Kokosing Construction Company, Inc and the support and patience of the community the bridge will be opening a week earlier than expected.

The Lodge had the honor of hosting the
WACO Fellowship of Christian Athletes again this year. The group used the Lodge’s grounds for their 2026 Outdoor Camp from July 6-10. We hosted over 170 campers and staff. The Lodge provided over 170 camouflage t-shirts for all of the campers. We also help supply meals for the week.

The campers had daily activities on the Lodge’s grounds and then across the road at the Izaak Walton League. It was a week filled with fun, faith, exploration, and outdoor sports!

This is one of the many events and organizations we are proud to sponsor with all the generous donations we receive each year from our Washington County Community.

You can see more information and pictures on the WACO Fellowship of Christian Athletes page.
