We did it! Thanks to your tireless support and unwavering belief in our vision, we have officially moved past the primary and are headed to the general election!

When we started this campaign, many called us naïve and that my passion, direct speech, and creative grassroot advocacy methods wouldn't resonate in this region. However, yesterday we proved that a clear justice centered vision for our community is exactly what people are looking for. This victory belongs to everyone who knocked on doors, made phone calls, stood at polls, and voted to demand a future that works for all of us, not just the few.

I have never been more optimistic about what lies ahead. The momentum is on our side, and I am ready to take our fight for transparency and thriving lives all the way to November. I encourage you to help us reach every Democratic, Republican, and Unaffiliated voter that we can and join our Volunteer Phone Bank and Canvass Training this Sunday, June 28 at 2:30 PM - sign up here: forms.gle/EKkuSwr8j8NsZABK8

We have shown that when we stand together that there is no limit to what we can accomplish. The future in Washington County is bright and you can count on More, more unity, more access, and more victory!

I am honored to have earned the support of several local elected officials, community leaders, advocacy organizations, educators, faith leaders, and small business owners who know we deserve leadership that listens to and works for the people of Washington County, not special interests.

Together, we can send a message to our County Commissioners that we demand more accountability, more accessibility, and more transparency in our county government!

This weekend was one of reflection, gratitude, and community.

From having the honor of giving the invocation at the Juneteenth Celebration at the Halfway African American Cemetery, to gathering with neighbors at the Doleman Heritage Museum Juneteenth Brunch, as well as being a part of the Community Prayer Walk and Juneteenth Celebration of Survival at Wheaton Park, I was reminded of the strength, resilience, and perseverance that have carried generations of Black Americans forward.

Juneteenth is more than a commemoration of freedom delayed. Juneteenth is a celebration of survival, progress, faith, and the continued work of building a more just future for our communities. It is a time to honor those who came before us, recognize the sacrifices they made, and recommit ourselves to creating opportunities for the generations that follow. As County Commisoner, I’m committed to ensuring the preservation of our heritage is rightly housed to be cherished, honored and celebrated.

As we close this meaningful weekend on Father's Day, I am especially grateful for the fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures who lead with love, wisdom, and sacrifice. Strong families and strong communities are built by those who show up every day to guide, encourage, and uplift others.

May we continue to honor our history, celebrate our progress, and work together toward a brighter future for us all.

Today is a day of remembrance, honor, resilience, and unity. The road is long and the work is constant, but together, we can build a more perfect world. Happy Juneteenth!
