Today, Westmoreland County Emergency Management, the Department of Emergency Services, and the Department of Social Services joined regional partners for an emergency shelter exercise.

Training like this helps ensure we are prepared to safely open and operate emergency shelters when our community needs them most. By working together before an emergency happens, we strengthen our ability to respond and serve the residents of Westmoreland County.

Thank you to everyone who participated in helping keep our community prepared! 🚨🏠🤝

I grew up in Westmoreland when our Parks and Recreation programs were thriving. Local businesses proudly sponsored our teams, and many of us still remember names like the Stan’s Skaters. Back then, there were opportunities to participate in indoor and outdoor soccer, Montross Mini-Eagle football, basketball, baseball, gymnastics, and more. I’m grateful for the parents and community members who stepped up and kept many of these sporting opportunities available for our youth.

One thing our community has never had, outside of our schools, is a municipal gym. It’s something I’ve always thought would be a great asset, and maybe one day it can become a reality.

In the near future, we’ll be establishing a Parks and Recreation committee with community input to help shape the direction of our programs. As both a parent and a teacher, I know how valuable quality after-school opportunities can be, and I hope that’s one of the topics the committee explores.

As I said at our last Board meeting, Parks and Recreation can grow into whatever our community wants it to be. I’m looking forward to working with our residents and helping move that vision forward.

🦅💙💛 NO CHILD SHOULD MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY! 💛💙🦅

At the Westmoreland Youth Association Eagles, we believe every child deserves the chance to experience teamwork, confidence, leadership, and the excitement of being part of something bigger than themselves.

We understand that sometimes financial challenges can make participation difficult—but don’t let that stop your child from joining the Eagles family.

💙 WE CAN HELP!
✅ Player & Cheer Sponsorships Available
✅ Reduced payment options for families in need
✅ It’s NOT too late to register!

If your family needs assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are committed to making sure as many children as possible have the opportunity to play this season.

📞 Saquita: 804-456-0254
📞 Tiffany: 804-761-2268

All conversations regarding financial assistance will be handled with care and respect.

Our goal is simple: No child should sit out because of financial hardship.

Together, we can remove barriers, build confidence, and continue developing champions—both on and off the field.

🦅 One Team. One Family. One Nest.

As we prepare for another school year in Westmoreland, I’m looking forward to participating in the annual Prayer Walk at Westmoreland High School.

I’ve seen a few comments about “separation of church and state.” This is a voluntary community event. No one is required to attend or participate, and everyone’s beliefs should be respected.

I’ll be there to pray for the safety, success, and well being of our students, teachers, staff, and everyone who walks through our school doors this year.

I hope to see many of you there. Have a safe, successful, and blessed school year Westmoreland!

Residents of Glebe Harbor and Cabin Point,

I’m pleased to share that VDOT has completed the traffic speed study for Glebe Harbor Drive, which I requested nearly a year ago. Based on the results of that study, VDOT will be implementing the following changes in the coming weeks:

* The existing 25 mph speed limit on Glebe Harbor Drive will be extended from its current endpoint to Currioman Drive near the clubhouse.
* From Currioman Drive to Mt. Holly Road, the speed limit will be reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph.

I appreciate VDOT’s work in conducting the study and responding to the concerns raised by our community. These changes are intended to improve safety for residents, visitors, pedestrians, and everyone who travels through the neighborhood.

-Jeff

🚨 The puppy Sr. Deputy Perkins is holding is NOT available for adoption. The picture is to show her love for animals only. 🚨

WOW… just WOW! 🤯🐾

We are absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of our community!

Today, Sr. Deputy Perkins stopped by the shelter and paid the remaining adoption fees for the dogs still waiting for a home.

✨ That means EVERY SINGLE DOG at the Westmoreland County Animal Shelter now has a FREE adoption! ✨

This is what community is all about. Because of the incredible kindness of our donors, cost is no longer a barrier. All that’s missing now is YOU.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a four-legged family member, this is your sign. Every dog here is waiting for someone to give them the love, safety, and forever home they deserve. They don’t care how big your house is or what kind of car you drive—they just want someone to choose them.

Please help us make the most of this amazing gift:

🐶 Come meet our dogs.
❤️ Adopt.
📲 Share this post so we can reach as many potential adopters as possible.
🏡 Help us clear the shelter and give these deserving pups the happy endings they’ve been waiting for.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Sr. Deputy Perkins, the other 2 AMAZING donors and everyone who has stepped up to support these animals. Your kindness is truly changing lives—one adoption at a time. 💜
