St. Charles Parish residents are invited to participate in a Point of Distribution (POD) exercise on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park, located at 13825 River Road in Luling.

Residents who participate will have the opportunity to drive through the simulated distribution site and experience how supplies would be distributed during an actual emergency. The exercise will also allow emergency personnel and volunteers to evaluate response procedures, traffic flow, communication, and overall readiness.

No registration is required to participate. Residents must remain in their vehicles throughout the exercise and follow directions from on-site personnel. Participation is voluntary, and no emergency situation is currently impacting St. Charles Parish.

Recent improvements at the Fourth St. Pump Station included rebuilding of the station’s pumps, which move large volumes of stormwater out of neighborhoods in St. Rose during rain events.

Electronic panels at the station were raised to better protect important electrical equipment from potential flood damage during severe weather. A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) was installed to control pump speed and improve efficiency. This allows the pumps to operate more smoothly while reducing wear on the system and improving overall performance.

These upgrades help the station operate more reliably during heavy rain events and severe weather.

St. Charles Parish is saddened to share the passing of former councilmember and constable Dickie Duhe. Mr. Duhe served our community throughout his life as a Norco resident, a volunteer firefighter, and a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, with a passion that will not be forgotten.

Please hold his family and friends in your thoughts as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Celebrate the life of Richard Duhe, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home.

Hurricane season is officially here, and now is the time to make sure your household is prepared. While forecasters are predicting an El Niño year, it only takes one storm to impact our community.

Residents are encouraged to review their emergency plans and make sure they have at least 72 hours of supplies ready. Start with the basics: water, non-perishable food, medications, batteries, important documents, fuel and a way to stay informed.

We love seeing your views of the parish, especially when they’re from this high up. From the river to the skyline, there’s no place quite like St. Charles Parish.
