June is National Secure Your Load Month. Be a Good Friend.
Idaho Code §49-613 requires that no vehicle be operated on a public highway unless its load is secured to prevent it from becoming loose, detached, or a hazard. For loads like dirt, sand, or gravel on paved roads that could spill, a cover is required unless at least 6 inches of freeboard is maintained. Certain exemptions apply (e.g., government vehicles, agricultural products).

Fines for unsecured loads can range from $75 to $1,000 depending on the court jurisdiction, with higher penalties and/or civil liability possible if debris causes injury, property damage, or a collision. Don't risk it. Secure your load.
