From structure fires to kitten rescues, our firefighters are always ready to help.

Recently, crews responded to a kitten that had become trapped under the hood of a vehicle. After some careful work, they were able to safely free the furry passenger and bring the situation to a happy ending. 🐱

What happens when firefighters, police officers, water balloons, water guns, and a fire truck all meet at summer camp? A whole lot of fun!

This afternoon, the Haines City Fire Department joined the Haines City Police Department and children attending the Haines City Parks & Recreation Summer Camp for an unforgettable water fight. The kids came prepared with water balloons and water guns, while firefighters brought out a fire truck and hose line to help everyone cool off.

We love opportunities like these to connect with the families we serve while helping everyone beat the summer heat. Thank you to Haines City Parks & Recreation for having us out!

We may have had the fire hose, but the kids definitely had the numbers. πŸ’¦πŸš’

Over the past two days, the Haines City Fire Department had the opportunity to welcome children participating in the Haines City Parks & Recreation Summer Camp for station tours and fire safety education.

During their visits, the children explored our fire apparatus, toured the station, learned about the equipment firefighters use to respond to emergencies, and gained a better understanding of the important role firefighters play in protecting our community.

We always enjoy connecting with local youth and sharing what it takes to serve the residents of Haines City. Thank you to Haines City Parks & Recreation for allowing us to be part of their summer camp experience.

We hope everyone had a great time and learned something new along the way!

June 1–7 is CPR & AED Awareness Week, a time to recognize the lifesaving impact that bystanders can have during a cardiac emergency.

Did you know?

β€’ Approximately 90% of cardiac arrests outside of a hospital are fatal.
β€’ Only 42% of cardiac arrest victims receive CPR from a bystander.
β€’ Just 12.5% have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) applied before emergency responders arrive.
β€’ Using CPR and an AED can double or even triple a person's chance of survival.
β€’ For every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, a victim's chance of survival decreases by approximately 10%.

When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, immediate action can make all the difference. Learning hands-only CPR is simple, effective, and could help save the life of a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor.

The Haines City Fire Department invites community members to attend our FREE Hands-Only CPR Class on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fire Station 3.

Space is limited, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Take a few hours to learn a skill that could save a life.

This afternoon, the Haines City Fire Department responded to a backyard fire at the Fletcher Mobile Home Park. The fire started after the homeowner was burning wood in the backyard.

Thanks to the quick response and swift actions of our crews, the fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread further. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the homeowner or responding personnel.

This serves as an important reminder that Polk County remains under a burn ban. Dry conditions can cause fires to spread rapidly and become dangerous in a matter of moments. We encourage everyone to follow the burn ban and use caution outdoors to help keep our community safe.
