EMS volunteers are no exception to this either. It’s not just a local issue, rather its effecting agencies across the country. Interested in helping? Contact us today for volunteer opportunities.

Recommendations to reverse dwindling first responders include creating incentives to volunteer and reducing mandated training.

The Officers and Members are thankful for the help from our friends at Station 178 Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad who provided coverage for Hainesport during the 100th anniversary celebration that allowed our ambulances and personnel to be dedicated to the attendees. Ambulance 1784 handled 1 call for us during the standby, a crash that Relief Fire Engine Company No.1 responded to with them. Thank you and your crew for their professionalism! You ever need a favor, don’t hesitate to ask!!

HELP SAVE OUR EMS SQUAD

The Hainesport EMS squad is a fully volunteer group of certified emergency medical technicians who serve our community. In 2023, we responded to 437 calls(65% of total dispatched calls), delivering state of the art emergency care to those in need. No one is charged for our services.
For profit squads can bill patients $1000 or more per call. As a volunteer squad, we saved our community an estimated $437,000 in health care costs in 2023.

In 2022, the Township Adminstration commissioned a study to evaluate our Squad. The study took place with minimal contact with the leadership of the squad and was recently submitted without their review. When the study was released, we were shocked and saddened by the tremendous number of inaccuracies and misinformation contained in the survey. The survey paints an appallingly inaccurate picture of the squad. We are in the process of documenting the mistakes and submitting the actual data. We will present this at the next Township Meeting on May 14, 2024.

The survey recommends replacing our squad with a for profit squad from an adjacent township. As our data will show, this will not improve patient care but will cost our community hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Please show your support of our EMS squad and make your voice heard on May 14 at the Township Meeting.

Hainesport Emergency Squad is excited to announce our newest EMT, as we just received word Chris Leger has successfully passed his NREMT cognitive exam, thus certifying him as an EMT. Hopefully no one has to meet Chris in this manner, but he is eager to be there for you. Join us in congratulating his certification 😀 .

Today the Hainesport Emergency Squad remembers fallen Officer William C. Wurst of the former Hainesport Township Police Department who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Line of Duty:

On March 28th, 1975 Officer William C. Wurst along with Patrolman Donald Aleshire of the Mount Holly Police Department were shot and killed by a sniper. Officer John Holmes, also of the Mount Holly Police Department, was wounded during the same incident and suffered paralyzing injuries. He died 17 years later from his injuries suffered that day.

Officer Wurst was a two year veteran of the Hainesport Police Department. He also was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was 24 years old, survived by his parents, sister and twin brother
