What a crazy long 7 months. Congratulations to each and everyone who has tested and passed their practical exams. It’s been an honor to watch each and everyone of them grow.
Today was the final day of the 2026 Alcona-Iosco Counties Fire Academy. Now to wait for written test results. Plainfield Township Fire Department had 2 members in the academy. The rest of the academy is a mix of members from both Alcona, and Iosco Counties. With combining the County’s together it allows us to have some opportunities that some of the other academies don’t get. For an example some of them are, CPR, The Yellow Rose Campaign, and the live fire flash over training. These members have put in the work.

May is Wildfire Awareness Month, a time focused on prevention, preparedness, and protecting what matters, together.

Wildfires are largely preventable, with nearly 85% caused by human activity. Taking steps to reduce risk, prepare your home and family, and stay informed all play an important role in keeping communities safe.

Tomorrow, May 2, is Wildfire Community Preparedness Day. Remember that small actions can make a big difference. Take a few steps to reduce risk where you live:
• Clear dry vegetation and debris around your home
• Create and maintain defensible space
• Check local fire restrictions and conditions before outdoor activities
• Make a plan with your family in case of evacuation

This weekend, May 2-3, 2026, is National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. It is a time to recognize firefighters who have lost their lives and honor their sacrifice, courage and service to their communities. This also recognizes firefighters for answering emergency calls nationwide and risking their lives to protect people, homes and communities during fires, disasters and other emergencies. We are truly thankful and appreciative of all the brave men and women who are or have been in the fire service.

Attention Iosco County Property Owners. If you have sustained damage due to the spring flooding, please go to https://arcg.is/10ab1j and fill out the Self Reporting Survey. This information will be shared with the State of Michigan as well as Iosco County Emergency Management and will help them track the damage that has been caused by the flooding.

This survey is provided by the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division for statewide use for residents to report damage following disasters. Survey data is shared with local Emergency Management programs.

Forgot to take a picture last week. So here are a few shot from tonight. These Guardian Angel lights you see in the pictures along with the mounts and tethers were purchased with the fundraiser money that we made from the Comedy Show event. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in helping put the event on, and to each and everyone who Sponsored, Donated, and laughed with us the entire night.
