As we're heading into the wildfire season in California, we want to take a moment to look back at the 2026 Cal CARTs Leadership and Training Summit.

Our sixth summit brought together animal control officers, the California Veterinary Emergency Team, emergency managers, law enforcement, humane organizations and CART volunteers to share agency updates, discuss the future of animal response teams and review standardized sheltering training materials.

At Cal CARTs, we are still processing all of the incredible conversations, presentations, and lessons learned.

We want to again, thank our incredible sponsors including Humane World for Animals, Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch, TS & KD Glide Foundation, Nevada County Sheriff's HEART, North Valley Animal Disaster Group, Napa Community Animal Response Team - Napa CART, California Veterinary Emergency Team - CVET, Halter Project, Central California Animal Disaster Team, Farmed Animal Immersive, Joybound People & Pets, Resqfast, San Mateo County Large Animal Evacuation Group Smclaeg, California Animal Welfare Association, and LASER.

We want to also express our gratitude to each and every Community Animal Response Team - Thank you for all that you do.
