Update: A Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of the Piedmont region of Virginia through 8 PM this evening. A Heat Advisory has also been issued for locations along/east of the Blue Ridge in the North Carolina and Virginia Piedmont for Friday from 11 AM through 8 PM. An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Buckingham County today and tomorrow from 11 AM through 8 PM. Severe Weather possible today through Sunday, Flash Flooding possible Saturday through Monday.
Threats: Hot temperatures in the 90s to low 100s are expected this week, along with moderate levels of humidity.
Location: The Piedmont of VA and NC as well as some urban areas and the Southern Shenandoah for heat.
The entire area at times for severe weather and excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding.

• Today through Monday
Overview and Impacts:
• The heat and humidity will result in dangerous heat index values between 100-113 in the Piedmont and urban areas as well as the Shenandoah Valley.
• Dangerous heat will result in the increased potential of heat related illnesses, especially for sensitive groups like children and the elderly.
• Confidence is moderate, but if we have clouds due to thunderstorms, the heat index values may only reach the 100-108.
• Downed trees and powerlines may cause localized power outages.
• Localized flooding at flood prone areas and urban sites.
