Missing Juvenile

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking the whereabouts of a 16-year-old who walked away from his residence on Canterbury Court in the Roanoke Rapids area around 10:00pm on Thursday September 3, 2026.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and red Jordans. He is about 6 feet tall 250 lbs. curly blonde hair.

Additional arrest made on the extension cord child abuse case

During the continued investigation of the July child abuse case on Coleus Lane by Halifax County Department of Social Services and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Detective G. Keel it was discovered that another child in the household had been abused. The child had a bruise and a knot on the child’s forehead and was caused by Tony Creekmore striking the child.

Additionally, evidence was discovered that shows the mother of the children, Erica Barber attempted to assist Tony Creekmore in evading prosecution in the original felony child abuse case that was reported July 9th by trying to get the children to lie to investigators. On that day, Tony Creekmore was ordered in his release order not to be around the 7-year-old child that was assaulted in the case or Erica Barber; however, Tony Creekmore was observed with the children and Erica Barber by investigators.

Tony Creekmore has been charged with violating a court order and misdemeanor child abuse. Erica Barber was charged with aiding and abetting and accessary after the fact.

Erica Barber was arrested while attending Halifax County Court on Tuesday September 1, 2026 and was remanded to the Halifax County Detention Center with no bond with a September 15, 2026 court date.

Tony Creekmore has outstanding warrants and has not been arrested on the additional charges.

**Please join me in congratulating Chief Chris Davis on his retirement**

Today is a bittersweet day as I congratulate my friend, Chief Chris Davis, on his retirement.

Chief Davis and I started our law enforcement careers together 23 years ago. He was with the Weldon Police Department, and I was with the Sheriff’s Office. Over the years, we came up through the ranks together and were there for each other through it all—the good times, the challenges, the long days, and everything in between.

I’m truly happy for Chris as he begins this next chapter, but it’s bittersweet knowing that a great friend and an outstanding law enforcement officer is leaving the profession.

I’m especially going to miss seeing my friend patrolling around Weldon in that blue truck as I make my rounds through town. For his entire law enforcement career, Chris proudly served with the Weldon Police Department, and he served that community well.

Chief, thank you for your dedication, your friendship, and your commitment to the citizens you served. Your years of service have made a difference, and your presence in this profession will certainly be missed.

Congratulations on your retirement, Chief Chris Davis! You’ve earned it. Wishing you nothing but the best in this next chapter.
